Most of you will recognize the song that it’s based off – American Boy by Estelle featuring Kanye West.

But what about the Fortnite version?

Well, the Fortnite parody of American boy that has gone viral this month on TikTok can be traced back to YouTube user Leviathan, who posted the song here on December 19, 2018. Although due to a copyright claim, 10 seconds of the song in that video are indeed muted.

If we were to trace this masterpiece back to its origins however, the Fortnite-themed chorus is actually sampled from YouTuber CMSkits, who uploaded it in a video called “Let’s Play Fortnite” here.

This original was only 16 seconds long though, and Leviathan did of course complete the song and add his own immaculate vibe to the full version.
