Looking for one of the BEST places to visit in LA for geeks and collectors? Look no further than the ultra-fun Funko Hollywood store.
Offering over 40,000 square feet of whimsical Funko fun, this store is a MUST-VISIT for Geektrippers whether they are avid Funko POP! collectors, or just fans of Star Wars, Disney, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones or any other popular fandom, because the giant photo opps are honestly too cute for words.
Funko Hollywood is Funko’s 2nd brick and mortar location, with the first being their HQ in Everett.
In this post, we’ll be showing you all the amazing stuff inside Funko Hollywood, along with basic must-knows to ensure your visit goes smoothly.
Funko Hollywood: Basic Info
The Funko Hollywood store is located at 6201 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028.
According to their official website, their opening hours are as follows:
- 12-6pm Monday – Friday
- 10-6pm Saturday and Sunday
We would recommend double checking their social media in advance of your visit though, because the store was exceptionally closed on the first day we wanted to visit.
If you want to visit the store for the POP! Yourself experience and build your own custom Funko Pop doll, then we’d recommend arriving as close to the opening time as possible (or even earlier) to ensure that you are able to get on the list. The slots for the POP! Yourself experience are limited, and the total experience can take over three hours, so plan accordingly.
You can read our full guide on How to Make a Custom Funko Pop in LA for more details.
PS: You are indeed allowed to bring suitcases! We visited right before heading off to the airport and they had no issue with our carry-on sized bags.
How to Design Your Own Custom Funko Pop at Funko Hollywood
Funko Hollywood is one of the very few locations in the world that you can create your own custom Funko Pop.
So, needless to say, for many visitors, this is a top priority!
If you’re one of those visitors who wants to make sure you get your own custom Funko pop made while visiting Funko Hollywood, you can read our full guide on How to Make a Custom Funko Pop in LA for details.
Overall, this is the process:
- Join the line-up to visit the Funko Hollywood store (if there is one)
- Design your custom Funko pop at one of the POP! Yourself digital kiosks in-store. There’s only a few of them, so odds are there won’t be any free. If so, go to a staff member and ask to be added to the waitlist
- Wait for a text to say it’s your turn, then join the line-up by the digital kiosks
- Wait for a digital kiosk to become free, then design and customize your Funko Pop
- Get your receipt and pay, then wait for the Funko Pops to be made
This process can take up to three hours, depending on a variety of factors like how long the line-up is, how long others take to make their Funko Pops, how long you take to design yours, and overall how busy the store is.
Make sure to allocate enough time for this activity if it’s a priority. We had a flight to catch and unfortunately didn’t have time to make our own!
Inside Funko Hollywood
Wondering what wonders there are to explore at Funko Hollywood? Here is a virtual tour of all the displays that they have to offer!
NOTE: We last visited in April 2022, so some things may look different to how they are now.
Entrance
After braving the line-up to enter, we walked into the store and were immediately greeted with a giant Dwight, and a Baby Groot!
There was also an empty Funko box that you could step into for a super fun photo.
Marvel Funko Zone
Once you enter the main retail space, you are greeted with a grand Wakanda display, which had a Black Panther Funko Pop surrounded by some Dora Milaje.
Further in, there’s a lot of big Guardians of the Galaxy Funko Pops to take photos with!
DC Funko Zone
From here, there’s a little DC zone, with an adorable line-up of DC Funko Pop heroes:
And also a Harley Quinn mystery mini display:
Disney Funko Zone
One of the bigger themed zones at Funko Hollywood is (of course) dedicated to Disney. We loved this giant Little Mermaid themed display, which took up a whole wall.
And this very cute ‘Disney village’ area where popular characters had their own little houses/storefronts:
Last but not least, we have to show you this Funko Toy Story display. So absurdly adorable!
Harry Potter Funko Zone
Another themed zone you can step into is for Harry Potter. There’s a table where you can take a photo with Harry, Ron, and Hermione Mystery minis, and of course choose from a variety of Harry Potter Funko dolls.
Star Wars Funko Area
Our personal favorite area of Funko Hollywood may have been the Star Wars one, which was FILLED with fun photo opps and outrageously adorable life-sized Funko dolls.
You could sit inside a Landspeder for a great photo:
Or simply pose with some of the cute displays:
Game of Thrones Funko Photo Opp
One of the coolest photo opps at Funko Hollywood is definitely this Game of Thrones themed one, where you climb and hop on an icified Viserion.
The Stranger Things/TV Zone
But also really enjoyed this nostalgic TV corner, which had a nice Stranger Thingws display complete with a Demogorgon coming through the wall.
Jurassic Park Funko Photo Opp
For fans of Jurassic Park, this Jeep photo opp a Funko Hollywood is an absolute must! Bonus points if you mimic the iconic Dr. Malcolm pose:
Rick and Morty Funko Photo Opp
There was also a fun display for Rick and Morty fans, of them in their Space Cruiser.
The Horror Movie Funko Zone
And a spooky little zone for horror film fans, with Funko figures of horror icons like Beetlejuice, Jason Voorhees, and Michael Myers.
The Doctor Who Funko Photo Opp
Of course, there was a very cute Doctor Who themed photo area, featuring a giant Funko mystery mini of the Thirteenth Doctor.
The Sport Funko Zone
And we can’t forget the sport corner of Funko Hollywood, which had a big Funko Pop of Michael Jordan, and a mystery mini of Lebron James.
The Nostalgia Funko Zone
Another one of our favorite little areas was the nostalgia room, which was filled with adorable ‘blast from the past’ photo opps, from a giant bowl of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries, to vintage lunchboxes, Pez dispensers, the Kool-Aid guy, and a cute little ride with Fred Flintstone.
POP! Factory
Lastly, before you leave, you get a glimpse of the POP! Factoruy, where custom Funko Pop dolls are made.
